Lily's first instacare visit.

After we got home and all band-aided up
The cool pink head band while we were waiting for the numbing gel to kick in

Today Lily had her first insta-care visit. After a shower this morning I had taken her out, got her standing and she tripped while trying to climb back in and hit her chin on the ledge of the tub.

At first I just thought that it was a good bonk, but when I saw her chin bleeding I freaked, it looked pretty deep. I didn't know what to do because we weren 't dressed (its so much faster to shower with Lily in the morning as she LOVES baths and wants to stay forever in them...the reason why she was trying to get back in this morning)

Jason was on his way to go cross country skiing with the YM/YW when he had a feeling to call and he called right after it happened, perfect timing because as I said I didn't know what to do first...get dressed, stop the bleeding, get Lily dressed and plus Jason had taken my car and taken the car seat out so plus I had to get that in the other car too. I'll have to admit its not a good way to start a phone call with "she needs stitches!!" I gave him a pretty good scare because she was still screaming.

I'm glad he was so close, that allowed me to get our selves ready and stop the bleeding...once that happened she was fine and didn't remember that she had gotten a bonk.

We went to the Insta-care down the street from us and they put numbing gel on her chin and let it sit. Once we got in the back they cleaned it out with water, Lily did NOT like that at all, I don't blame her. I've had it done to me before. They were going to do stitches because it was deep enough but after the drama of cleaning it out with Iodine and trying to hold a two year old still, they had me lay on the operating table with her on my tummy all wrapped up burrito style in a sheet with the nurse holding her head, me holding her middle and Jason holding her legs; she was getting REALLY upset and once the cut was all cleaned up the doc. thought that it was stright enough to glue it shut and hold it closed with stera-strips...which I was SO greatful for as Lily was really scared. I was pretty okay with it all except I hadn't eaten breakfast and I can deal with blood and guts fairly well as long as I have eaten (not too recently) Jason just hates ANYTHING to do with hospitals, but I have to say he kept it together very well and I think it helped Lily a lot to have him there as she is a Daddy's girl.

After they were done they gave her a sucker and sticker and she acted like it never happened.
The cut is going to heal just fine and its under the chin so the scar won't be visable looking stright at the face. I'm just amazed at the stuff they do now with that kind of injuries. Its kinda cool really.
